The first one I had seemed to be working until some problems with the battery occurred. First time good service, item was replaced. The next one I received measured constantly erratic numbers (confirmed independently by another monitor) - it even measured erratic numbers while not on the wrist and did not recognize that there was no signal. I contacted the company again and they send a new one 9see below). Service is certainly very good.
As nice as it is to have no strap and as nice as it was when it worked - this thing seems unreliable and you can take your chances if you get a functioning one.
Edit: just received a new one from them so I will report how that one works and will submit a final report than
